Language: HTML, CSS, JQUERY, PHP, Java Script
I first developed an innate interest in web design and programming during high school. I’ve realized the internet and social media help give ideas traction and provide a platform for circulation. While I’ve worked on crafting several websites (utilizing html, css, jquery, java script, and php), the following are a few of my favorites:
Cully’s Run | NerdGirlHomes | Urban Lumber Works | Kids4Hydrogen
Cully’s Run
The Dartmouth Women’s Varsity Rugby team hosts an annual mental health awareness and charity event with proceeds going to Headrest, a regional non-profit providing a 24-hour crisis hotline and recovery services for NH, VT, and ME. One of the challenges when creating this website was incorporating the specific platform our partners wanted to use. Our design team didn’t like the platform or layout we were required to use, so, I did a ton of custom coding and found loopholes to create the most aesthetically pleasing website. The final result is the conglomeration of three different web platforms that while complex on the coding level was intuitive for people un-familiar with web design (to update). The user experience is always at the forefront. Overall, this campaign was extremely successful as we exceeded our fundraising goal and had a record turn out!
NerdGirlHomes
NerdGirlHomes has been in existence the longest of the websites I’ve created and was part of a project inspired by a childhood dream. The partnership of homelessness in Santa Cruz and my curiosity about building led me to found NerdGirlHomes – with the goal of building a tiny house and later donating it to Community First! Village in Austin, TX. Having garnered over 110,000 hits and attaining global exposure (as seen in the below image), my website enabled the spread NerdGirlHomes’ message and quite frankly made it possible to accomplish. By cultivating 250+ donor relationships I was able to raise over $16K and later was invited to speak at TEDx. I was the sole founder, webmaster, and builder on this project receiving media coverage by more than 20 outlets.
Urban Lumber Works
Urban Lumber Works focuses on up-cycling fallen local trees and transforming them into stunning pieces of furniture (rather than using them as firewood). Each tree has a unique history and story to tell. In addition to helping Urban Lumber Works with some table making, I’m the business’s webmaster and primary product photographer.
Kids4Hydrogen
Kids 4 Hydrogen is an educational outreach nonprofit organization with the goal of leading America in developing a sustainable energy infrastructure via hydrogen powered vehicles. My main role with this organization was creating the website and doing initial media work. The page’s set-up has complexity behind the scenes to eliminate costs for extra features (by implementing custom coding instead). However, it maintains intuitiveness for members to post updates.
