Stirling Engine

My stirling engine pictured below is the labor of a term long thermodynamics project. In tandem with studying the laws of thermodynamics, each member of our class participated in a stirling engine competition which enabled us to apply what we learned in a tangible manner building a thermodynamic system ourselves. Each engine was built from scratch using CNC machinery. In the final week of the term the engines competed in three categories: Max Power, Max RPM, and Max Efficiency – the stirling engine I built below had one of the top max powers in the class.
