My independent study originated from my innate curiosity of games and their potential applications within academia. Having already pursued a project pertaining to teaching a mathematical approach via a board game, I’m now developing the skillset to progress into the digital medium of games.
The app I’m creating addresses the following: while studying for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, it is difficult to find an enjoyable, cooperative, and engaging way to study while preparing and reviewing the material that will be covered. My hope is to create a trivia based game / app that enables students to review various engineering topics (thermodynamics, solid mechanics, electrical, ethics, etc.) and cooperatively play with friends. The mechanics of the game involve random category selection, a count-down timer, multiple choice trivia / ‘flashcards’ / questions, and score board.
Below is a quick demo of the app along with a screen shot storyboard of the views users encounter. (Currently, all questions in the category databases come from FE prep books. The hope is to later branch into more intuitive fast past trivia)
