Challenge: Teams of 2-3 students design, CAD, HSM (create tool paths, generate G Code, and export DXFs for the Laser Cutter), Machine (with the Hass), and Injection Mold a yo-yo – emphasizing simplistic design.

My group focused on creating a rather simple yo-yo with a deep cavity (to promote ease when later injection molding). However, to add some flair, we created a small shelf just on the inside lip of the mold for an acrylic snap-lid. While the body of the yo-yo is light and smooth, the acrylic casing on either side will encase confetti and add some weight to the yo-yo.
