Film Photography

Always curious about how things work, I took film photography in college to learn more about cameras and the film development process. The first week of class we were tasked with building our very own film camera as to understand how it functioned. The focus fell more on the mechanics and technique behind film rather than the artistic selection of images. We learned: to develop our own film strips using various chemical reactions; to enlarge images from our reels; how to take digital images, edit them in photoshop, then print our own negatives to then develop by hand. This hybridization of traditional film development and editing software was one of my favorites processes to learn.
