Challenge: Design a Tiny House for the Dartmouth Organic Farm that is < 400 sf. (Include: CAD model and drawings, hand calculations, and physical scale model).

The first phase of our term project brought us to designing a net zero-energy building that is ~296 sf on a 32′ car hauler trailer. Our primary goal was to design a rustic tiny house that addresses the needs of the farm (shade, running water, community space, mobile, food prep area, and tool storage). During the project we developed a full CAD model (including all individual components apart from fixtures themselves), produced building drawings that adhered to building codes, ran back of the envelope energy analysis, 3-D printed a small model, each group member conducted a portion of hand calculations, and we constructed a larger model. Our group finished with the highest marks on the project (arguably having the most fun) and our teacher noted that we were one of the few groups to receive a perfect score on our hand calculations (sample of a few): Phase 2 Calculations 2
